Nearly 150 Republican members of Congress attempted to overturn the results of the 2020 election AFTER supporting a failed coup that resulted in the first occupation of the U.S. Capitol since 1814. Dr. Ami Bera worked in his community for 21 years as a doctor – serving as Sacramento County’s Chief Medical Officer and then as a Clinical Professor of Medicine at UC Davis, where he taught the next generation of doctors to care for their patients.
Dr. Bera was first elected to Congress in 2012 to California’s 9th District in one of the hardest fought races, and remains a target of national Republicans today. Dr. Bera serves on the House Science Committee.
As a first generation American, Dr. Ami Bera attended California’s public schools from kindergarten through to medical school. Dr. Bera worked part-time and used scholarships to put himself through the University of California, Irvine where he earned his BS in Biological Sciences and MD.
