Dr. Randy Friese is a U.S. Navy Veteran, a trauma surgeon and critical care specialist, and educator at the University of Arizona College of Medicine.

He was on call the day of January 8, 2011 when a mass shooter attempted to kill two dozen of his neighbors in Tucson, including then-Congresswoman Gabby Giffords.

Randy worked to treat Gabby and, in the process, became personal friends with her and her husband Sen. Mark Kelly, who later encouraged him to run for office.

He did — Randy became the only Democrat in Arizona to flip a seat from red to blue in 2014 when he ran to serve in the state legislature. Now, he’s running to keep Gabby’s old seat in Congress in Democratic hands: But this is a swing seat and he needs your help to win.
