Today 314 Action Fund, the nation’s only organization dedicated to recruiting, training and electing doctors and scientists endorsed Jamie Ager for North Carolina’s 11th Congressional District, following his primary victory on Tuesday.
“As a fourth-generation farmer, an environmental scientist, and a small business owner, Jamie Ager is ready to serve. He’s the kind of leader North Carolinians deserve,” said Shaughnessy Naughton, President of 314 Action. “Jamie cleared the field and is the Democratic nominee for NC-11 because he isn’t afraid to fight for what’s right, talk about real kitchen table issues and put Western North Carolina first. We’re proud to endorse Jamie and look forward to supporting his campaign.”
“As a farmer, I know that there is nothing more important to our health than protecting our land and environment,” said Jamie Ager. “Quality health care, a clean environment, and a strong economy aren’t political talking points—it’s the foundation of our lives. I’m running to put rural communities first, create job opportunities and tackle our toughest challenges with honesty and curiosity I’ve learned on the farm. Just like politics, our landscape is rapidly changing. As a farmer, environmental scientist and problem solver, I’m ready to deliver solutions that will help our communities adapt and succeed. I’m proud to earn 314 Action’s endorsement and join a growing number of STEM leaders running for office.”
Jamie Ager is a fourth-generation farmer, who was born and raised in Western North Carolina. He’s dedicated his life to cultivating food, building community, and upholding the values of public service. Ager earned degrees in Environmental Studies, with a concentration in sustainable agriculture, and History from Warren Wilson College. He helped build his family’s farm, Hickory Nut Gap Farm, into a successful business that supports local jobs and regional farmers. After Hurricane Helene, Ager opened up his home and his farm to make sure those in need had a safe place to stay and food to eat—and eventually helped his neighbors repair their homes with his very own hands.
