(Philadelphia, Pennsylvania) — This week, 314 Action, the nation’s only organization dedicated to recruiting, training and electing doctors and scientists, celebrated Pi Day Week of Action.
“This Pi Day, 314 Action is celebrating a decade of electing scientists and doctors to office—and right now, our mission is more crucial than ever,” said Shaughnessy Naughton, President of 314 Action. “The American people can’t afford Trump and RFK Jr.’s health care crisis. Funding has been gutted, research has halted, and millions have been priced out of their health insurance. 314 Action knows better than anyone that science is resistance and we’re just getting started.”
Yesterday, 314 Action in partnership with COURIER Newsroom hosted “MAHA and the Midterms,” a virtual conversation with leading health care experts and elected officials, to discuss how rising health care costs and RFK Jr.’s anti-science MAHA policies will motivate voters in the midterms. This is the first event in a two-part series, the next conversation will be held in June 2026 to celebrate 314 Action’s 10th anniversary.
314 Action also launched a new merchandise store—including new Dunkin’ inspired shirts and stickers, reading: America Runs on Science. This comes as RFK Jr. declared war on Dunkin’, sparking a wave of backlash from consumers and elected officials nationwide.
Naughton continued, “Our STEM candidates have the experience and expertise to lead with evidence, not ideology. 314 Action has been in this fight for a decade—and this is our moment. Health care will be one of the top issues in the midterms and our doctors and scientists are uniquely positioned to win and fix our health care crisis.”
314 Action is working with a record number of STEM candidates running for office in 2026, with over 150 scientists and doctors running for federal and statewide offices and almost 200 local and municipal candidates across the country. The Washington Post reported findings from a new Annenberg Public Policy Center poll showing that doctors, scientists, and health care professionals continue to hold the highest level of trust, even as trust in federal health agencies declines under RFK Jr.’s leadership.
