Facts Underpin Our Democracy: 314 Action Drafts Slate of SoS Candidates

May 21, 2026

(Philadelphia, Pennsylvania) — This week, 314 Action Fund endorsed candidate Dana Barrett advanced to the June runoff in the Georgia Secretary of State race. She is one of three Secretary of State candidates endorsed by 314 Action Fund this cycle.

“314 Action congratulates Dana Barrett for advancing to a runoff to be Georgia’s next Secretary of State. Facts are the backbone of our democracy, and we need leaders willing to stand up for the truth no matter what this administration throws their way,” said Shaughnessy Naughton, President of 314 Action. “Over the past decade, we’ve watched Trump and Republicans lie with impunity, intimidate voters and tear down the pillars of our democracy—that’s why 314 Action has proudly endorsed three high-profile candidates running for Secretary of State.”

Naughton continued “Dana Barrett is one of them. She has been on the frontlines of the Trump administration’s Big Lie about the 2020 election. As a Fulton County Commissioner, she risked her career and jail time to stop Trump from stealing Georgia’s electoral votes. We need leaders like Dana who will follow the facts and uphold the law to preserve the integrity of our elections.”

Dana Barrett currently serves as the Fulton County Commissioner for District 3 in Georgia. She faced off with the Trump administration in response to Trump’s voter fraud claims in 2020, and in 2022, faced jail time for refusing to approve two Republican election denier nominees to the county election board.

This cycle, 314 Action Fund has endorsed three Secretary of State candidates in pivotal states:

Dana Barrett, a software developer, in Georgia is heading to a run off on June 16.

Allison Russo, a public health professional, in Ohio won her primary and is heading to the general election on November 3.

Katharine Clark, with a neuroscience background, in New Mexico will face a primary on June 2.
