314 Action Announces New Speakers Added to Stellar Lineup for 10 Year Anniversary Event hosted by COURIER Newsroom
(Philadelphia, Pennsylvania) — Today, 314 Action is proud to announce U.S. Senator Mark Kelly (D-AZ), an engineer and NASA astronaut, will join U.S. Senator John Hickenlooper (D-CO), the only peer-reviewed scientist in the Senate, in conversation in a virtual conversation “Facts vs. Fiction: The Fight for Science in American Democracy” hosted by COURIER Newsroom on June 11. Sen. Kelly and Sen. Hickenlooper have been on the frontlines of fighting back against the Trump administration’s attacks on science and democracy.
Dr. Annie Andrews—a 314 Action-endorsed pediatrician running for U.S. Senate in South Carolina against Lindsey Graham, is also set to join a panel conversation alongside newly elected Florida Representative Emily Gregory (FL-HD-87), U.S. vaccine expert Dr. Paul A. Offit (Director of the Vaccine Education Center), and 314 Action President Shaughnessy Naughton. Former meteorologist Representative Eric Sorensen (IL-17) will also deliver remarks.
Medical correspondent Dr. Vin Gupta will moderate both conversations.
The virtual event hosted in partnership with COURIER Newsroom will focus on how elected officials with science backgrounds have shaped public policy and law over the past decade, and the importance of facts to our democracy. This event will run from Thursday, June 11 at 2:30–3:30 PM ET. “Facts vs. Fiction: The Fight for Science in American Democracy” is the second event in a two-part digital series, celebrating 314 Action’s decade of work electing scientists to all levels of government.
314 Action’s 10th anniversary event series kicked off in March with a “MAHA & the Midterms” virtual event that highlighted how Trump and RFK Jr.’s MAHA agenda is hurting and costing Americans. Watch the first event here.
