(Philadelphia, Pennsylvania) — President of 314 Action Shaughnessy Naughton released the following statement calling on Representative Mariannette Miller-Meeks (IA-01) to respond to comments made by Senator Joni Ernst at a recent town hall, saying “we all are going to die”, in response to planned cuts to Medicaid and SNAP.
“Senator Joni Ernst said the quiet part out loud: if you’re on Medicaid, Republicans don’t care if you die under their plan. The people in Iowa’s First Congressional District deserve Representative Miller-Meeks to answer for the callous response from their Senator.
“Is this the GOP’s plan for health care? Why did she vote to strip health care away from over 130,000 Iowans? Senator Ernst made clear she’s ready to sign their lives away when the Republican budget heads to the Senate for a vote. It’s a death sentence and Rep. Miller-Meeks must answer for it.”
