(Philadelphia, Pennsylvania) — Today 314 Action Fund, the nation’s only organization dedicated to recruiting, training and electing doctors and scientists announced the endorsement of Lieutenant Governor Sara Rodriguez for Wisconsin Governor. As a registered nurse and public health leader, Rodriguez is a Guardian of Public Health candidate. She’s answering the call to serve her state as 314 Action works to elect 100 new doctors, nurses and health care professionals to office by 2030.
Through Guardians of Public Health, 314 Action is working to elect 100 new doctors up and down the ballot and across the nation by 2030, raising and spending over $25 million in the effort.
“Lieutenant Governor Sara Rodriguez is leading the fight to protect and expand Medicaid, ensuring all Wisconsinites have access to affordable health care, tackling workforce shortages, and investing in public schools and child care so every family has the opportunity to thrive,” said Shaughnessy Naughton, President of 314 Action. “As Wisconsin’s next Governor, she’ll continue to stand up and fight for Wisconsinites, backing policy with science and data every step of the way. For the last seven years, Governor Tony Evers has championed pro-science policies — and now it’s time to pass the torch to Sara to continue this work. We’re proud to endorse her and look forward to supporting Sara’s campaign.”
“I’m honored to earn 314 Action Fund’s endorsement. As a nurse, I’ve seen what happens when patients can’t get the care they need — and when leaders attack science and medicine, they make those problems even worse,” said Lieutenant Governor Sara Rodriguez. “Families shouldn’t have to go bankrupt just to afford prescriptions or child care, and they shouldn’t have to wonder if politicians will ignore basic facts about vaccines, climate, or public health. I’m running for governor to protect and expand Medicaid, lower costs, and defend science and evidence-based solutions — because Wisconsinites deserve leaders who will put facts and people first.”
Sara Rodriguez has spent her career on the frontlines of health care and public service. As an ER nurse, she worked night shifts during the height of the opioid and gun violence crises. At the CDC, she served in the Epidemic Intelligence Service, leading outbreak investigations around the world. In the Wisconsin Legislature, she flipped a red seat blue and fought to protect reproductive rights and public education. And as Wisconsin’s Lieutenant Governor, she’s traveled to all 72 counties in the state multiple times, working directly with families, farmers, and small businesses to tackle Wisconsin’s toughest challenges.
314 Action is the only national organization working to recruit, train and elect Democratic scientists across all levels of government—from the Senate down to local school boards. The organization is powered by a grassroots community of over six million people supporting scientists and health care professionals who will use science and facts to address the most urgent issues facing our generation.
