(Philadelphia, Pennsylvania) — Today 314 Action Fund, the nation’s only organization dedicated to recruiting, training and electing doctors and scientists, endorsed Manny Rutinel to flip Colorado’s 8th Congressional District. 

“As a first responder, attorney and environmental advocate, Manny Rutinel is the kind of leader Colorado deserves,” said Shaughnessy Naughton, President of 314 Action. “Since taking office, Congressman Gabe Evans has voted to gut Medicaid, take health care coverage away from millions, and make life harder for his district. Unlike Evans and his Republicans colleagues, Manny will put in the work to keep our government functioning and ensure all Coloradans have access to quality health care and clean air and land. We’re proud to endorse Manny in this crucial race and look forward to helping him flip the seat.”

Manny Rutinel has spent his career advocating to better the lives of Coloradans. With his degree in Microbiology and Economics, he became an Economist for the US Army Corps of Engineers, where I also served as a First Responder in Puerto Rico after Hurricane Maria. After graduating law school, Manny became an environmental attorney, fighting to protect Colorado’s air, land, and water, before being elected to the State House. 

314 Action is the only national organization working to recruit, train and elect Democratic scientists across all levels of government—from the Senate down to local school boards. The organization is powered by a grassroots community of over six million people supporting scientists and health care professionals who will use science and facts to address the most urgent issues facing our generation.
