(Philadelphia, Pennsylvania) — A new poll finds Dr. Annie Andrews within striking distance from U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham. Following Democratic wins and overperformances in Florida and Georgia, this race is well within reach with a six-point (42-36) head-to-head matchup, just under one year out from the election. The poll shows Lindsey Graham is deeply unpopular in South Carolina. 60% of voters say it’s time for someone new.
“South Carolina voters trust doctors, not career politicians,” said Erik Polyak, Executive Director of 314 Action. “For 22 years, Lindsey Graham has spent his career in the Senate racing to the bottom. He’s deeply unpopular and a majority of voters in South Carolina are looking for someone new. With all this momentum in the South, it’s clear that South Carolinians are looking for a leader they can trust and that’s Dr. Annie Andrews.”
Key findings:
- 60% of voters say it’s time for someone new, with just 29% saying Graham should be reelected.
- Graham’s approval continues to crater among independents, with only 14% saying he should be reelected.
- There’s evidence that healthcare is among the driving factors in Graham’s unpopularity: just 26% say they approve of his job performance when it comes to healthcare, while 47% disapprove.
- A total of 72% of voters say they are very concerned (43%) or somewhat concerned (29%) about the current measles outbreak in the state. Just 25% say they aren’t concerned.
